Back then ppl use traditional lunar calendar 甄嬛 was born in lunar April so that would be approximately May. Some 甄学家looked up the calendar of 1707 supposedly the year she was born in and our 甄嬛should be a taurus

Ah Zhenhuan actually can use her name, you will see it later in the eps, it is because the emperor’s mom didn’t wanna her get selected, those name taboos and putting cat were all like excuses she wanna her make mistakes and she would not be selected then. But emperor loved her so much so she got in anyway. Later you would know why he would give her a name. No spoiler! Hahah
