一种常见的说法：T是Tomboy，是女同性恋中“扮演男方”的角色，是“P”的反义词，“攻”“1”的近义词，一同支撑起这些近似而又迥异的符号系统。
它同时被解读为：
——比T更硬的是铁T，比铁T更硬的是不锈钢T。
——T不光是Tomboy，更是Transmale，是无法接受自己生理性别的倒错。
——T是模仿男性，是父权话语的帮凶，是阳刚气质的盲目崇拜者。
由此，更多问题浮现：
——英文世界的Butch，与中文世界的Tomboy，是翻译关系吗？
——在并非女同性恋的关系之中，“T”依然存在吗？
——如果没有亲密行为，称自己为“T”，是否多此一举？
——“不分”比“T-P-H”的符号系统更优越吗？
——T与铁T，在互联网上隐形了吗？
