AEE 2283: Are you Fickle? English Vocabulary for Tough Decisions
you need to know where you're to get where you're going .
decisive person 果断的坚定的
indecisive person 犹豫不决优柔寡断的人indecisive and sloppy 拖沓 (马虎草率的)
shilly-shally 犹豫不决优柔寡断
wishy-washy 拿不定主意缺乏力量
drawback 缺点不利条件

1. wishy-washy means not have firm ideas ususlly in specific things, we don't use it much, like i have a friend who's very wishy-washy, i don't know which he think about anything. this is kind of character judgement.
eg, Sorry i have been wishy-washy I'm just not sure what exactly what i think about this.
( i haven't make up my mind yet, i don't know what my opinions about this, quite informal)
2. decisive means you have thought through every thing fully, also implys you're not open-minded.
eg, I have been indecisive about this for a while, but i finally make up my mind.
Lots my friends still indecisive about the selection.
(more about doing reserch getting more information to make a decision.)
3. on the fence means there's a decision and you haven't chose a side, you haven't decided which side you agree with.
eg, They are sitting on the fence and refusing to commit themselves.

My sister is on the fence about the guy she's dating .( she's not sure what she think about this, not sure they should keep dating, she hasn't decided how she feels)

4. fickle adj. 浮躁的；易变的；变幻无常的
eg, Her friend is kind of fickle, he changes his mind all the time .
fickle is kind of heavy for a choise .
I'm not usually a fickle person, but i keep changing my mind about this .

4. fickle
= changing frequently when usually talks about a person's loalty, interest, affection and implying on which side or team.
Ex: Her friend is fickle. He changes his mind all the time.(It doesn't mean which to buy)
Ex: I am not usually a fickle person, but O keep changing my mind about this.
Tips: It's a heavier adj. It's way too heavy for a choice what kind of bad. a little bit formal for daily conversation.

1. wishy-washy
= indecisive, fip-floper(犹豫不决的人)not usually for something or ideas which are specific
Ex: I have a friend who is very wishy-washy. I don't know what she really thinks about anything.(character judgment)
2. indecisive(for character judgment. thought through everything fully. kind of implying u r not open-minded. for anything that it's hard to make decisions)
Ex: I've been indecisive about this for a while, but I've made up my mind.
3. to be on the fence
Ex: My sister is on the fence about she is dating.
Ex: I've been offered two job opportunities. I am on the fence about which to chooce.此处不能用whish-washy. (The sentence doesn't have to do with an opinion
Tips: You can be decisive about the fact that u don't have an opinion yet. That's not being wishy-washy.
