It's November 17th, 2024. Well, it's already eleven o'clock.
It's been a jam - packed day. I just wrapped up my English study. I got through around sixteen or seventeen English learning videos today. Each one's only three to five minutes long. While watching, I used Doubao to look up stuff. When they explained sentences in the videos, there was a load of great idiomatic knowledge. I'd look it up and jot it down. All in all, I studied for about three or four hours today. Nice. I'm gonna grab a throat lozenge to ease my throat and keep grinding tomorrow. Finally, I'm on track with the progress.
I'd planned to learn ten "Daily Easy English Expressions" a day. So by today, the 17th, I should be at 170 videos. Only recently did I start studying more thoroughly with a notebook. Before that, I just watched the videos and read along. I think this new way gets the knowledge to stick better, but man, it's exhausting. I didn't really do any fun stuff today. Woke up at a decent time, but I'm still beat. I had insomnia again last night and didn't conk out until one or two. It's been like this the past four or five days. Maybe it's 'cause I'm hustling to catch up on the video study. I'll sort it out gradually.
Chatted with my little bro today. He got like a dozen points in math, forty - fifty in both physics and chemistry, and 75.5 in English. Jeez! Things aren't looking great for our family. But I still comforted him, told him to study hard and make good use of Doubao for self - study. I'm not sure how my teacher qualification and English studies will turn out. I've got no clue what'll happen after March. There are so many unknowns and hurdles ahead. No idea if I can land a decent job either. Eh, not gonna worry about it now. Just gotta focus on studying.
Today, I set a goal to finish my study records and then hit up Mr. Li, my old boss, about when the salary's coming. It was supposed to be paid on the 15th. I asked the accountant yesterday, but they didn't respond to my message or my WeChat. Paid the rent yesterday. It's been a month since I moved in. Time flies! It's been a good life here. The rent's 600 yuan, and the water, electricity, and sanitation fees combined are about 80 yuan. It's a sweet deal. Back when I was in real estate, I was living large. I rented a nice one - bedroom, one - living - room place for 1,000 yuan a month. In the summer peak, with utilities, it could be 1,300 - 1,400 yuan. Usually, it was around 1,100 - 1,200 yuan. Now the housing cost is lower. After doing the math, aside from the money I sent back home for business turnover, I've got around 4,000 yuan left. Gotta figure out how to survive November and December. Mom'll give me money in November. But I'm thinking of using Huabei (Ant Credit Pay) to get by first and ask her for more in January. We'll see.
I showered and washed my hair yesterday. Didn't sweat much today, so I'll just wash my feet. Then I'll see if I feel like watching something like "City Hunter" to unwind before bed. Back to the grind tomorrow.
