As synthetic biology rapidly evolves, there is an increasing demand for graduates with skills that bridge scientific knowledge and industry applications.Dr. Goh will highlight Temasek Polytechnic’s approach to integrating industry-relevant skills into the curriculum, including hands-on experiences, collaborations with leading biotechnology institution, and exposure to cutting-edge technologies.She will share insights on curriculum innovations, the importance of nurturing interdisciplinary competencies, and the value of international partnerships in cultivating a globally competitive talent pool.This session aims to inspire international researchers and educators to explore collaborative strategies that ensure students are equipped for dynamic and impactful careers in biotechnology.
Personal Profile:
Dr. Goh Lay Beng serves as the Director of the School of Applied Science at Temasek Polytechnic, where she oversees the institution's strategic direction and academic programs. She is a member of the Singapore team for the Asian Synthetic Biology Association (ASBA), and a Team PI at the National Centre for Engineering Biology (NCEB) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), contributing to the advancement of synthetic biology in the region.Under her leadership, the school emphasizes practical education and industry partnerships, preparing students for careers in biotechnology, healthcare, veterinary, food and chemical engineering.
