don't mix well= don't get along
Ex: My brother and I are like oil and water. We only talk once or twice a year.
Ex: I thought I'd love having two dogs, but they get along luke oil and water, not so fun.
Ex: She doesn't get along with her roommate. They are like oil and water so try to not bring them up.
👏night and day: something is the opposite
Ex: I feel so much better today after medicine. It's like night and day.
👏fire and ice
Tips: based on dramas and sparks, not in a good way. Be careful to use it to talk about someone's personality and how they might clash
Ex: The kids are like fire and ice. I don't know how I got this bad.
Role Play
A: Did you get along with your siblings when you were young?
B: No way, we are like fire and ice, but actually from then until now, it's like night and day. We are super closed.
A: That's good.
B: what about you?
A: My siblings are kind of like oil and water. I wish we got along better, but we were just too different.
B: That's too bad.
