"What about you" vs "How about you"
☝They are very interchangeably without worrying about their nuances. The difference doesn't matter.
1️⃣What about?
2️⃣How about?
3️⃣What do you think?(more specific for which you share your opinion, and then wanna know others' opinions)
Ex: So what do you think about the changes the city made to its recycling program
4️⃣And you?(quiet forma, a little distance)
What are you doing for the holiday?
I'm flying out to the east with family. And you?
Role Play
A: Hi, there! I didn't realize you live close to here.
B: I don't really, but it's the best dog park in town, so much shade. What about you? Do you live close to here.
A: Yeah, just around corner.
B: It's such a beautiful neighborhood.Have you gotten to know your neighbors?
A: Yah, a lot of great people live closed by. I love chatting with everyone who is walking their dogs. How about you? good neighbors?
B: For sure, we've lived there about 10years. We've met most of them. … to ask what you think about that dress code change at work.
A: Oh, I hate it. I miss being a little worn jeans and T- shirt. What do you think?
B: Same. I'm dryding(听不出来) to have dress up.

AEE: I Love English! What About You?
when someone asking for your opinions how do you tell them what you think and then throw it back to them to make sure the conversation stays lively and dynamic? listening today.
The differences between what about you and how about you .
Basically they're interchangeable.
Tips1: if someone answers the question as is longer, we would be more natural to say what about you, and then sort of repead the question.
eg, what about you, what did you do this weekend
Tips2: what about you and how about you are so general and versatile通用的全能型的 for anything the other person said, just like how would you answer this questio.
Tips3: what do you think is more specific to use after you share your opinion and you want to know their opinion. use more about in tipical items like news, current event.
Tips4: and you? very short but It's formal
feels like we Don't know each other as well, maybe we are colleagues, maybe you're my boss.

"And you?" This is more formal,like ask your boss opinion. "What abt u""how abt u" is more casual.
