no ifs ands or buts(certainly and definitely, emphasize thesurety that something will happen)
Ex: We're going to Disneyland this year, no ifs and buts.
No buts(No excuses)
A: I'm so glad that you made it. Your parents usually come, but I don't think I've seen you one of these before.
B: I know, it's the first time I've been able to attend. Something always comes up, but this time I was like I'm going, no if ands or buts.
A: Thats my mum said to me when I told her I have to work, and she said no buts.
B: Your mum is the best, though she did beat me at Uno(纸牌游戏) this morning.

The difference between "but" and "though"
👏For more information, but showing a contrast. We change monotone as we insert Ex: I was supposed to have a class today, but it was canceled.
Ex: We don't usually eat out, but we didn't feel like cooking today.
👏Don't start a sentence with "but"when it comes to academic writing or formal writing, but it doesn't have to be it that way in spoke English.
A: I'm leaving at 4:30 for the game.
B: But I thought you had to be there at 4.(more informal and conversational, dose emphasize a contrast a little. )
A: They pushed it back and starts 5 now.
👏When chose " though" over "but" is realizing the contrast is occurring as we are speaking.
🚩I'm hoping Mark comes to the party, but he didn't come last time, so I doubt it.(like a statement)

when you're in an English conversation, how can you know when to use but or thought ?

Part one AEE 2346: This is Tricky English Grammar, Though

1. showing contrast.
eg, I would surpose to have class today, but it was canceled.
We Don't usually eat out, but we didn't feel like cooking today.
Don't use but to start the sentences for academic writing, but for stylistic体裁上文体上 choice we can use especially for questions. (But what about fall? fall is amazing)
eg, I'm leaving at 4：30 for the game.
But i thought you would be there at 4.
= i thought you would be there at 4 though.
They push it back and it start at 5 now.
2. Sometimes we would choose though over but: to really emphasize the contrast.
eg, I'm hoping Mark comes to the party, but he didn't come last time, so i doubt it.
= I'm hoping Mark comes to the party, though he didn't come last time, so i doubt it. (加强对比)
3. no if ands or buts ( no buts)
没有任何借口：表示不容置疑、不容反驳的意思，通常用于强调某个要求或命令必须被执行
certainly or definitly you wanna emphasize your surety something would happen.
eg, We are going to Disneyland this year, no if ands or buts.
