It basically means confidence;boldness;don't have fear;used in positive and negative
Positive way(not implied criticism):
Ex: it is amazing that he had the audacity to move to New York all by himself i wouldn't be that brave
Ex: he's got a lot of audacity
Ex: his fashion choice is showing his audacity really stands out in red carpet
In negative way:
Ex: i can't believe she has the audacity to think she didn't mean to audition for the part
Ex: if he has the audacity to argue with his boss who knows what he will do next
