When it comes to an English class that left a deep impression on me, the first thing that comes to mind is one from last semester. It was probably around this time last year. During that class, the teacher suddenly announced that towards the end of the lesson, some students would be asked to come to the front to give a short speech about what they had learned that day.
As soon as I heard this, I felt really nervous. I was terrified of giving a speech in front of the whole class, mainly because I was afraid of saying something inappropriate and making a fool of myself. So, I paid extra attention that class. I tried my best to focus on what the teacher was saying, quickly took notes on the key points, and silently rehearsed in my mind how I would present what I'd learned.
To my surprise, being so focused actually made the whole class more interesting. Because I was completely following the teacher's train of thought, I could see the overall structure of the lesson. This organized and logical framework of knowledge made me feel really engaged and even enjoyed it. Moreover, it was the first time I had taken notes in class properly. I realized that taking notes actually helped me grasp the key points of the lesson much better. Once I fully understood the teacher's objectives and the main points, the whole class became a very enjoyable experience.
In the end, when class was almost over, the teacher happened to pick me to share what I had learned. I confidently and comprehensively summarized the lesson. The teacher praised me for doing a good job, which made me feel that this was not only an unforgettable class but also an extremely enjoyable one. I really learned a lot of useful study skills that day.
1. When it comes to an interesting and unusual building I want to visit, the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai is the first one that comes to mind.
2. As a landmark of Shanghai, the Oriental Pearl Tower stands at 468 meters tall. When it was first completed, it was the tallest building in Asia and the third-tallest tower in the world.
3. Its appearance is made up of 11 spheres of different sizes connected in a line.
4. There are mainly two reasons why I find it unusual and interesting.
5. The first reason is its architectural shape. The Oriental Pearl Tower is quite different from other buildings, which are usually rectangular prisms. Its circular design combines elements of traditional Chinese culture with modern technology—its great height reflects modernity, while the numerous circular structures embody the characteristics of traditional Chinese architecture.
6. The second reason is the diverse facilities inside the building. First of all, there is a large 360-degree observation deck at the top, where you can overlook the most prosperous areas of Shanghai. Besides, it also has a revolving restaurant that rotates once every two hours. I think dining at such a high altitude while enjoying the most bustling scenery would be an extremely novel experience.
7. So, as I just mentioned, since it is a unique and distinctive building, I really want to visit it.
When it comes to my favorite singer, the first person that comes to mind is Meni. That's his stage name because he said he wants to make money through music. He's a Chinese singer who's been quite popular among young people lately, thanks to his distinctive songs and his funny, straightforward personality.
I first became his fan about two or three years ago, after accidentally hearing one of his songs, and he's still my favorite singer today. I often listen to his music to relax after studying, and sometimes while I'm cooking dinner. His songs have a huge charm— the catchy rhythms and ethereal voice are simply a feast for the ears.
He has achieved a lot so far; the biggest one is probably being the top singer in terms of play count on major domestic platforms, such as QQ Music and NetEase Cloud Music. I like him because I think he's a very creative singer.
First of all, his music style is a hybrid, combining pop, rock, folk, hip-hop, and other elements. Even though he blends many styles, it doesn't feel strange at all— instead, it sounds uniquely good.
Second, his melodies are very creative. Just listening to the sound, we can feel obvious emotional expression and a sense of imagery, with rich layers.
Finally, his lyrics are very creative. At first listen, they seem simple and rhyming, but upon closer inspection, they are full of philosophical thoughts.
So I think he's indeed a very talented singer, and I really like him.
