这一期的雅思口语练习有些不同——不是单纯地问答雅思题目,而是测试词汇量、社交媒体英语和英语口语。我的感觉是:不管是正式的还是口语化的我都还没有达到理解和能迅速反应的程度。可能这也是为什么标准化的英语考试背后不代表真实地和 native speakers 交流和融入的情况,只能说道阻且长,行则将至。
我觉得最关键的一点是:哪怕是比较“textbook”的英语表达也要先尽可能迅速掌握和反应,毕竟网络用语一直在变,但掌握基本的语言能力是自我表达的基础,哪怕还没有太多个性化,但至少可以更顺畅交流。

1. "straight from the horse's mouth"

The phrase "once in a blue moon" refers to an event that happens very infrequently, emphasizing its rarity.

4. "don’t count your chickens before they hatch"
you should not make plans that depend on something good happening before you know that it has actually happened:
e.g. She wanted to buy a dress in case someone asked her to the dance, but I told her not to count her chickens before they hatched.

adj. extremely important or urgent
e.g. It's imperative to act now before the problem gets really serious.
6. elate
adj. extremely happy
e.g. The boss is elate at/by the profit.
7. better
n. people of a higher rank or social position than you:
e.g. As children, we were taught not to argue with our elders (长辈) and betters (上级).
