give in

1. To stop resisting someone or something after a period of refusal

· She asked her mother for a piece of chocolate over and over until she finally gave in.

2. it has a sense of compromising to someone like someone is pushing you to do something and you resisted it at first and then finally you're going to compromise.

· I told him I wasn't going to the gym, but I gave in when he said he would buy me lunch after.

3. societal pressure/cost:
· I am not going to spend 300 on a concert. I'm not giving in."
(Implies others are pushing you to buy the ticket, or you're resisting the high price itself as a pressure).
· it could be just with society's rising prices... maybe you say you're gonna change your grocery shopping habits... there has to be some force on the other side that's pressuring you.
