This research introduces High-Resolution Imaging Mass Cytometry (HR-IMC), a novel method that significantly enhances the spatial detail of traditional multiplexed tissue imaging. By employing an oversampling technique and computational deconvolution, the researchers improved resolution from 1 µm to below 350 nm, matching the performance of light microscopy. This advancement allows scientists to visualize subcellular structures like mitochondrial networks and nuclear foci that were previously invisible using standard mass cytometry. Validation across diverse tissue types, including ovarian cancer cells, demonstrates that HR-IMC provides superior cell segmentation and more accurate biomarker mapping. Ultimately, the technology offers a powerful tool for studying complex biological features and disease characteristics at a nearly microscopic level.
