A friend is considering buying a house nearby, but you have decided to leave the area due to a rise in crime. Write a letter to your friend advising them not to move into the neighbourhood. In your letter:

- Give the reasons behind your decision to leave
- Suggest possible alternative areas that you know

Dear Sam,
I hope you're doing well. I recently heard that you're thinking about buying a house near my place, so I wanted to write to you before you make a final decision. To be honest, I really don't think it's a good idea for you to move to this neighborhood.
The main reason is the crime rate, which has gone through the roof over the last year. In fact, there has been a noticeable rise in break-ins and car thefts on our street alone. As a result, I no longer feel safe living here, especially in the evenings, which is why I've actually put my place on the market.
If you're still keen to buy a place somewhere in the southern part of the city, you might want to look at areas like Richmond or White Rock instead. Though they are a little further from the city centre, they’re much quieter and have a much better reputation for safety.
I really hope this helps you make the right decision. Feel free to give me a shout if you'd like any more info or advice about specific communities etc. It’d be good to touch base anyway since it's been a while.
