1.reached a new low :you became worse than in the past sth is happened, it makes you worse also described in a situations
nuance is if you use it in wrong situation, people would take it literally and directly really harm someone
Ex:i always thought he was rude, but he reached a new low when he asked me to drive him to airport when i had the flu ( not thoughtful)
Ex: i can't believe we stayed banging that show until 4:00 am, seriously, we've reached a new low
Ex:this restaurant is going down hell, but their atmosphere has reached a new low, i don't think i will be coming back (getting worse)
Ex:OK! Your outfit have reached a new low,this is supposed to be formal night
2.to stopped a new level or new low
Ex:when she started personal insults, she's really stopped to a new level
Ex:i stopped to a new low when i spilled the wine all over my boss
3.to have outdone oneself ( on a sarcastic way)
Ex: i don't think i could be any more irritated at him, but he's absolutely outdone himself this time
Ex: oh no i burned the cookies, I've outdone myself
Ex: you've outdone yourself, this is the best dessert I've ever tasted in you
4.hit a downward spiral
Ex:i think this place has had a downward spiral,it's probably going to close
Ex:OK my shoes choices has hit a downward spiral, will you go shopping with me this week?

Role play:
A:oh geez! my time limit came up meaning we've been doing this for two hours
B:yikes! We've hit a new low
A:definitely! But i actually think we've had a downward spiral back when we started looking at fashion pictures
B:oh yes! That's when i realized my fashion has stopped to a new level, we should go shopping
A:yes! But not at the mall it's not nice anymore
B: yes! you're right! it was getting bad but now the terrible store open has outdone itself
A:definitely!
