A Tea Garden Adventure in Lu Tong's Hometown

During summer vacation, I followed my calligraphy/kəˈlɪɡrəfi/ teacher to Lu Tong's Tea Garden in Jiyuan. As soon as we entered, I was mesmerized/attracted by endless green - tea bushes standing like neat soldiers welcoming us.

First came tea-picking. Mimicking adults, I gently pinched the tender buds between thumb and forefinger. Though my back ached soon, I realized how hard tea pickers work.

The most exciting part was stir-frying tea leaves. When fresh leaves hit the sizzling iron wok, a sweet aroma filled the air. Using a bamboo spatula, I carefully turned the leaves dancing in the pan. "Treat them like babies," the teacher advised, "gentle moves, precise timing."

Learning tea brewing was magical. Holding a blue-and-white porcelain cup, I practiced the "Phoenix Nodding Three Times" pouring technique. Watching golden tea swirl, I suddenly connected it to the "flowing clouds and water" concept in calligraphy - both arts share rhythmic beauty!

During the tea ceremony, bowing to my teacher made me realize: tea isn't just leaves in water, but a bridge connecting hearts. Just like in Lu Tong's famous "Seven Bowls of Tea" poem, each cup carries ancient cultural secrets.

As the sun set, I carried home my hand-fried tea leaves. "This tastes like spring!" Mom said after sipping. I smiled secretly, knowing the flavor also held tea pickers' sweat, roasting smoke, and my first crush on traditional Chinese culture!
