1.sink in
Let it sink in : to let is absorb, to fully process, to think about all of the implication or the deeper meaning
Ex:when Jana told us, she's moving to another country, we kinda of just sat there quietly trying to let it sink in
Ex:after hearing the surprising news, he needed a few minutes alone and let it sink in
2.warp it your head around
Ex:when Mark explained he was switching his career at 40,it tooks his friends a while to wrap thier heads around
Ex:i still can't wrap my head around, how quickly thier relationship change
Ex:i just saw this documentary and i need time to wrap my head around everything i learned
3.make sense of it
(sth is confusing hard to understand)
Ex:after watching the news on TV, I try to make sense of what i had heard
Ex:she kept reading the text messages again and again trying to make sense of this comment

Role play:
A:i can't believe Emma is getting married, i need a minute to let it sink in
B:Same here! Last time we talked she wasn't sure about where the relationship is going, I'm having a tough time wrapping my head around
A:exactly! And she didn't gave us any details, I'm replaying what she said, trying to make sense of it but still confused
B:honestly, i think she'd surprised herself too, she looked nervous but excited
A:true! As long as she's happy
