The obedience experiment is a classic social psychology experiment. It's an important way to explore how people conform to authority figures and the impact of social pressure on individual behavior. The experiment was designed by Milgram. At the beginning of the experiment, researchers set up roles of a teacher and a student. The teacher asked questions, and the student answered them. If the student answered wrong, the teacher would punish them with electric shocks. During the experiment, even though they saw the student was in pain, most participants still chose to press the 450-volt button. In short, this experiment shows how powerful authority can be over individual behavior. Through this experiment, we can better understand how social pressure affects our actions.
