讨论英语的“高壁垒”

Today, I want to talk about a unique perspective I have on the English language. We often treat all languages as same, but I have realized that English is different. It acts like a high barrier. What I mean is, the cost to learn it and use it well is actually much higher than you might think. There’s a huge gap between speaking English casually and using it for serious, professional purposes.

In Chinese, once you reach a certain level, you can handle almost everything. Whether you are buying vegetables or reading a legal contract, the language feels connected. You can usually figure out what’s going on.

But in English, it feels like there are two separate worlds. The English you use to talk to friends is simple and easy. But the moment you enter fields like science, law, or medicine, the language changes completely. It becomes super formal and full of complex terms that the average person has never heard of.

Think about it: if an English speaker gets sick, they might not know the exact words to describe their pain to a doctor. They get lost. This isn't just about knowing more words; it's about crossing a huge gap in the language itself."

In many English-speaking environments, if you only know everyday English, you are basically locked out of important information. You can't fully understand the news, the law, or even your own medical rights without help. You need a specialist to translate it for you, even though it's supposed to be your native language!

This turns English into a tool that not only communicates but also separates people. So, to sum up, English isn't just a language; it's a high-cost system. It has a steep price tag in terms of learning and communication.

Today we just briefly talk about " English's high barriers", and if you are looking forward to a deeper discussion, we will have the opportunity to talk about it again. Please subscribe my channel and see you next time.
