Intro:

Building a startup is never linear. Building one while technology paradigms shift, capital tightens,  and geopolitics reshape markets in real time is something else entirely.

In this episode, I speak with Ran Sela, CEO of Healium Medical, an Israel-based ultrasound platform company, for a candid conversation about resilience, failure and adaptation. Ran openly shares why his first two ventures didnt work out, what he learned from those experiences, and how those lessons now guide his decisions as a founder.

Healium's ultrasound platform began with the first indication in Afib, pivoted to renal denervation, and is now preparing for yet another —reflecting how quickly markets, especially clinical preferences can change. We explore the early promise of contactless ablation, the rapid rise of PFA, and how evolving safety profiles are reshaping physician choice.

Ran also discusses what it’s like to lead a small startup through volatile global conditions, including finding practical ways to keep the lab running during the pandemic, or navigating cross-cultural collaboration with strategic investors in China. This is an unfiltered conversation about when to persist, when to pivot, and how founders adapt when the world moves faster than technology.
