A few weeks later, a terrible smell began to fill the basement of the very building where Inspector Blunt had his office. The police finally looked downstairs and found the white elephant. It had been there the whole time, dead from hunger. It had never even left the building! Despite this total failure, Inspector Blunt was not ashamed.
