Once upon a time, there was a little girl whom everyone called Goldilocks
What a good child! praised the newcomers to the town
You would think so, the neighbors said with a sneer
One morning, Mother asked Goldilocks to go to the neighboring village to buy muffins
You must promise not to take the shortcut through the forest. I heard there are big brown bears living there
I promise, I promise, Goldilocks replied
But really, she was just the kind of naughty girl who did whatever she wanted
Deep in the forest, there was a beautiful house where the bear family was sitting around the table having breakfast
Ouch! roared the big Papa Bear, This porridge is too hot! It burned my tongue!
I can't eat it either! cried Baby Bear
Indeed... said Mama Bear, It's too hot
Let me think... said Papa Bear, Why don't we go for a ride while the porridge cools down?
Good idea, said Mama Bear happily
So the three bears got on their rusty, rickety bicycle and set off
Not long after, Goldilocks arrived at the bears' house
She didn't even knock before barging right in
On the table were three bowls filled with delicious-smelling porridge
Don't blame me, don't blame me! Goldilocks muttered to herself as she picked up the biggest bowl
But this porridge was too hot!
Ouch! she spat out the porridge in her mouth
She tried the medium-sized bowl, but it was too cold
Then she licked the porridge in the smallest bowl—it was neither too hot nor too cold, just right
Goldilocks liked it so much that she poured the whole bowl into her tummy
Full and satisfied, Goldilocks thought it would be fun to look around the house
Within three seconds, she found coarse brown fur everywhere
They must have a cat, she said smugly
In the living room, there were three chairs
Don't blame me, don't blame me, Goldilocks muttered as she climbed onto the biggest chair, but it was so hard that she couldn't get comfortable
She sat in the medium-sized chair, but it was too soft
Goldilocks thought she might sink in and never get out
Then she sat in the smallest chair—it was neither too hard nor too soft, just right
She liked it so much that she rocked and swayed until—crack!—the chair fell apart
Now Goldilocks was exhausted
I'll take a little nap, she said, finding three beds upstairs
Don't blame me, don't blame me, she mumbled as she climbed onto the biggest bed, but the headboard was frighteningly high
She tried the medium-sized bed, but the headboard was too low
Then she ran to the smallest bed—it was just right, comfortable and warm
Soon Goldilocks was fast asleep, and she didn't hear the bear family come home at all
When the three hungry bears walked into the dining room, they couldn't believe their eyes!
Someone has been eating my porridge! Papa Bear shouted
Someone has been eating mine too! Mama Bear cried
Someone has been eating my porridge too! Baby Bear said sadly, And it's all gone!
In the living room, the bear family got another surprise
Someone has been sitting in my chair! Papa Bear shouted
Someone has been sitting in mine too! Mama Bear cried
Someone has been sitting in my chair too! Baby Bear said sadly, And it's broken to pieces!
The three bears crept quietly upstairs, not knowing what they would find
Look! Baby Bear said sadly, Someone has been sleeping in my bed, and she's still lying there!
Look here! Papa Bear roared
Goldilocks woke up in fright, her eyes nearly popping out of her head
Before the bears could ask her to explain, she slipped out of bed, jumped out the window, and ran all the way home
Who was that girl? Baby Bear asked
I can't imagine, Mama Bear said, I hope we never see her again
And indeed, they never did see her again
