Don't be a rat! Expressions for betraying someone's trust :
1.rat (who betrays and trust by telling on us)
drive from word rat
a telltale / tattletale
Ex:
A: i heard your brother told on you
B: yeah he's such a rat !
2.to rat sb out
Ex: if i find out shera's boyfriend is cheating i would definitely rat him out
Ex: she promised she won't say anything but rat me out in the meeting
3.to rat on someone
Ex: i wasn't plan on rat on him but the boss asked me directly i had to tell her
4.we have a rat / i smell a rat
Ex:someone is leaking our strategy to our competitors i think we have a rat

Role play:
A: did you hear the boss found out the late lunches
B: seriously! We must have a rat
A: but who would rat us out,we still getting our work done
B: i guess Scott, an accounting, he's always giving us the side eye when we walking in
A: he's totally the rat
B:but what do we do now?
A: I won't be talking long lunches anymore
B:same! Hopefully we just get a warning
