[00:21] IBM Designs New 3D Chip Platform to Fit 100 Billion Transistors. Can we fit one hundred billion transistors on a single computer chip? IBM says yes. As transistors get close to the size of single atoms, it is harder to make them smaller. To solve this, IBM is stacking transistors vertically. This new design is called NanoStack. By stacking them, signals do not have to travel as far on the chip. This yields massive improvements in performance without additional cost of power or heat. However, stacking chips can make it hard to extract (提取,排出) heat. If chips get too hot, they can bend and fail. IBM is working with ASML at its Albany R&D lab to refine this process. They hope this platform will work for multiple chip generations in the future.

[01:06] Ford Rehires Human Engineers After Automated AI Quality Checks Fail. AI is a great tool, but it cannot replace human experience yet. [02:00] NASA Webb Telescope Captures Detailed Image of Cigar Galaxy Stars. NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has captured a beautiful new image of the Cigar galaxy. This huge image shows about sixteen million stars in detail. The Cigar galaxy is twelve million light-years away from Earth. It is a very active place. Stars are forming there ten times faster than in our own Milky Way galaxy. Scientists believe that a galaxy merger in the past triggered this rapid star formation. Galaxies are such intricate (错综复杂的) ecosystems that scientists must combine data from different telescopes to fully understand them. In the past, the Hubble telescope captured the dust and gas in the galaxy. Now, Webb can show the staggering (令人吃惊的,惊人的) density of the stars.
