When fishy and cheesy aren't about food:

1.fishy : it means sth is specious, dishonest, not quite right, it's discouraging
Ex:the hotel kept quoting me different prices, pricing kept changing, sth is fishy
2.cheesy : trying so hard to be funny or romantic
kind of matter of opinion
Ex:
A:did you hear his pickup line?
B:did it hurt when you fall out from heaven,so cheesy!
Ex:
A:what do you think about Hawaii theme party
B:it was fun, but decoration were a bit cheesy
Role play:
A:hey! Did you hear about Jake's business opportunity?
B:yeah i don't know it sounds kinda fishy to me
A:he said we could get rich over night!
B:that's already a red flag

🎯The difference between cheesy and fishy
idiomatic meaning that are unrelated to those literal meaning.
1️⃣Something fishy: something is suspicious, just not quite right. if you have this feeling, that means someone might not be telling the truth. Maybe they do something they shouldn't or you don't just trust the situation.
Ex: The hotel keeps quoting me a different price. The price should be changing like that, something fishy.
2️⃣Cheesy
Trying to be hard or romantic. It might be a little bit embarrassing or cliche. it's often used to describe jokes, pick up lines andmarketing slogans.
Ex: Did you hear his pick up line? Did you hurt when you fell off the heaven?
Role Play
A: Did you hear about Jake's business opportunity?
B: I don't know. It sounds kinda fishy to me.
A: He said we could get rich overnight.
B: That's already red flag. Anytime someone syas that, it's usually fishy.
A: I agree. the way it presented was sort of over-talk.
B: Always dramatic lines, like this would change your life forever, so cheesy!
A: I almost laughed out loud when he paused for effect.
