Vietnam: Deafeningly Loud, Yet Most Alive

When I first visited Vietnam, my biggest question wasn’t “Is it fun here?” but rather: With so many motorcycles around, why haven’t they all crashed into each other? 

Later, I discovered that the interesting aspects of Vietnam go far beyond transportation - coffee, women, cross-border marriages, the history of the Chinese community, and a very different pace of life from that in China, all lie hidden in these street details.

当我第一次去越南时，我最关心的问题不是“去哪里好玩？”，而是：我的天，这么多摩托车，为什么却感觉它们绝对不会撞？

后来我才意识到，越南的有趣之处远不止交通——咖啡、女性、跨国婚姻、华人移民历史，以及与中国的截然不同的生活节奏，全都隐藏在街巷的细节之中。
