QbitAI reports, citing Business Insider, that David Robinson, who led the “Safety Transparency” function on OpenAI’s safety systems team, has left the company. He did not publicly explain why, and OpenAI has not announced a successor. The team sits under Trustworthy AI and is responsible for turning internal technical findings, risk judgments, and deployment decisions into public materials—most notably model system cards. Robinson was also a lead drafter of the Preparedness Framework 2.0, which sets out evaluations and safeguards under high-risk capability thresholds for frontier models. Before leaving, he was still recruiting OpenAI’s first Safety Transparency Editor. Separately, The Wall Street Journal reported that OpenAI fired three employees working on safety and model alignment: Jasmine Wang, Tomek Korbak, and Mikita Balesni. OpenAI said an internal investigation found the three shared sensitive company information with an external AI safety organization, including details about OpenAI’s infrastructure architecture. Korbak previously served as the technical liaison between OpenAI and METR and Redwood Research; both organizations were invited to investigate after the Hugging Face incident. Recently on X, Robinson said OpenAI is gradually becoming aware internally of the impact of highly capable AI models, but he isn’t sure whether the change is happening fast enough. He advised AI employees who remain to use their internal influence to push the company to take AI risk more seriously.

TechWeb reports that Tesla recently released its global production and delivery report for the third quarter of 2026. The data shows that Tesla produced more than 464,000 pure electric vehicles worldwide in the quarter, up 2.7% quarter over quarter, and delivered more than 486,000 vehicles, up 1.3% quarter over quarter. CPCA data shows that Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory delivered more than 86,000 vehicles in August 2026, achieving steady year-on-year growth. On the retail side, Model Y continued to lead across all categories: in the first half of 2026, Model Y’s domestic retail sales in China exceeded 172,000 units, making it the best-selling SUV in China across gasoline, hybrid, and pure electric models. In March and June 2026, Model Y also topped the domestic passenger car single-model sales rankings. According to statistics, as of August 2026, Tesla had delivered more vehicles in 14 markets, including South Korea and Australia, than in all of 2025. On the product side, on October 1, the entire Model 3 lineup received a product update, with the center display upgraded to 16 inches. Current Model 3 and Model Y models on sale will also be equipped with AC external power supply.

TechWeb reports, citing the Financial Times, that Amazon is seeking to spin off Nvidia Grace Blackwell AI chips worth about $8 billion, or roughly RMB 53.715 billion, into a special purpose vehicle, or SPV, and then lease those chips back from the SPV. Sources say the proposed deal involves chips distributed across more than a dozen data centers in five U.S. states. The newly created SPV is expected to receive an investment-grade credit rating and will later attract outside investors by selling shares and issuing bonds. The report says the spin-off and leaseback structure could help Amazon ease the debt pressure from its massive AI infrastructure investment and move toward relatively asset-light operations.

According to 36Kr, Shanghai AI company StartLux (Yuandian Xinghui) released the fully open-source decision model StartLux-Decision on September 30, offering five versions—0.8B, 2B, 4B, 9B, and 27B—as well as locally deployable quantized models. The 27B version scored 63.88 on 38 benchmarks in Decision Index 0.2.1, higher than Jev 1.13’s 57.91, leading in 31 of them and coming in nearly 6 points above the public leader. Another seven-test suite produced an average accuracy of 91.82%. StartLux says these are self-tests based on public tools and compared against the September 28 leaderboard snapshot; the seven tests come from Shanghai AI Lab Intern-Decision and are independent of Decision Index. When playing against Jev 1.13 without extra search, StartLux-Decision-27B won 35 out of 36 games. It directly outputs choices, judgments, or scores, without needing to generate natural language and then parse it. The 4B version averaged 26 milliseconds for three questions, while the 0.8B and 2B versions averaged 12.2 and 15.5 milliseconds. Previously, StartLux-27B outperformed the 284B DeepSeek-V4-Flash in CAICT tests and matched DeepSeek-V4-Pro with about 1/60 the parameters.

According to a PencilNews report republished by 36Kr, the Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court issued a bankruptcy acceptance and creditor claim announcement in late August, and Yinghe (Shenzhen) Robotics and Automation Technology Co., Ltd. has formally entered bankruptcy proceedings. The company was founded only six years ago, raised more than RMB 600 million cumulatively, and was once valued at $500 million. Its shareholders include Meituan, ByteDance, GSR Ventures, Panda Capital, and controlling shareholder Yingfeng Group. Its legal representative, Shen Gang, has been subject to high-consumption restrictions; the company is listed as a dishonest judgment debtor; its website is inaccessible, and its official WeChat account has stopped updating. Reports say Yinghe’s 2025 revenue was only RMB 4.33 million, with a net loss of RMB 67 million. Panda Capital invested RMB 70 million. Founding partner Li Lun demanded that He Jianfeng give an explanation, saying that company executives’ after-tax annual salaries exceeded RMB 3 million, office renovation cost RMB 28 million, and nearly RMB 90 million in orders were defaulted on, triggering claims. Yingfeng did not respond. The company began owing wages in 2023. It has been involved in 58 judicial cases, with 33 terminated due to lack of assets, and a 100% non-performance rate. It became insolvent in September 2024, and since June 2026 it has faced multiple high-consumption restrictions. Court-seized equipment was appraised at RMB 49.74 million; after two auctions, the price was lowered to RMB 27.85 million but still failed to sell.
