According to Readhub, recent demonstrations have sparked widespread industry discussion about ByteDance’s world model project. The project is personally overseen by Zhang Yiming and has been listed as the top of ByteDance’s four major AI priorities for 2026. It relies on the company’s video generation model Seedance to develop a real-time spatial video generation model, while mobilizing resources across multiple departments to prioritize computing power. ByteDance has chosen a differentiated route starting from video generation and is not treating model distillation as a shortcut. The world model track has now split into several routes: OpenAI is pursuing physical simulation, Google DeepMind is pursuing real-time interaction, Nvidia is focusing on a physical AI foundation, and ByteDance is advancing a fourth route aimed at mass-market applications, with plans to release a model benchmarked against top international levels by the end of the year. Its layout extends beyond content and entertainment into productivity areas such as robot training, autonomous driving simulation, and vocational skills simulation learning. It is also turning Pico, previously seen as marginalized, into a key part of the ecosystem to lower the computing threshold for VR hardware, forming a complete layout covering computing power, content, and terminals.

TechWeb reports that ChangXin Technology, a STAR Market-listed company, disclosed its earnings forecast for the first three quarters of 2026. It expects revenue of 265 billion to 270 billion yuan, an increase of 232.916 billion to 237.916 billion yuan year on year; net profit attributable to shareholders of 131 billion to 132.5 billion yuan, an increase of 136.28 billion to 137.78 billion yuan, turning a loss into a profit. In the same period last year, revenue was 32.084 billion yuan and net profit attributable to shareholders was a loss of 5.28 billion yuan; this year’s revenue is up nearly eightfold year on year. Sina Tech reports that Hefei Sanzhiyang Network Technology Co., Ltd. issued a statement on the evening of October 16 saying that since the “Sanzhiyang Network” account was suspended, the company has sincerely accepted penalties from relevant departments, paid fines and confiscations in full and on time, and compensated for relevant products under a “refund plus triple compensation” policy. The company said that over the past two years it has conducted comprehensive checks and implemented rectification in areas including product selection and quality control, promotion, after-sales service, and streamer management, and has passed evaluation by the Hefei joint investigation team. The suspension and rectification caused talent loss, unsold products, and long-term losses, and also brought losses to consumers and partners. The official account “Sanzhiyang Network” will be renamed “Xiao Yang Zhen Xuan,” and the company plans to gradually transform from an MCN into an e-commerce company focused on brand building. Douyin’s “Douyin Blackboard” account said that in September 2024, Douyin had suspended accounts under Sanzhiyang; based on the rectification report from the Hefei Market Supervision Administration, Sanzhiyang’s rectification met requirements and the company is qualified to resume operations. With approval from relevant authorities, it agreed that Sanzhiyang could cancel its original account on Douyin, register a new account, publish content, and resume operations.

Sina Tech reports that Apple said preorder demand for its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, is “nothing short of extraordinary.” Just minutes after preorders opened on Friday, estimated shipping times had already slipped to the end of January next year. Apple said in a statement that it is working to deliver as quickly as possible, but did not say whether customers who did not preorder will have stock available on the October 23 launch day. On Friday morning, consumers saw on Apple’s online store that estimated shipping times had been pushed to November, then to December minutes later, and later to the end of January next year; delays affected both colors and all storage configurations from 256GB to 2TB. The iPhone Duo is one of the first major new products since new CEO John Ternus took over in September; Bloomberg News previously reported that Apple will also launch devices including a touchscreen MacBook Pro later this month. Industry research analysts Anurag Rana and Josh Christensen said Friday that iPhone Duo sales could exceed the previously forecast 14 million units, and Apple’s related revenue in fiscal 2027 could exceed $28 billion. Apple shares closed up 0.43% at $343.46 on Friday.

According to Readhub, OpenAI announced a major upgrade to ChatGPT, bringing computer-use capabilities fully into the Chrome browser and launching dual Chat and Work modes. Chat mode can gather information across tabs and help with information organization such as comparing content across multiple pages; Work mode, after authorization, can directly operate webpages and perform tasks such as filling out forms, summarizing information from multiple pages into tables, drafting emails, and organizing and grouping tabs. The upgraded ChatGPT sidebar can be called up at any time while users browse the web and is fully integrated with conversations in the ChatGPT client, so users do not need to repeatedly provide context; it can also work with browser extensions to execute tasks within logged-in websites. The upgrade turns the browser from a traditional interaction gateway where people find information and click buttons into a workstation where AI directly executes tasks, and OpenAI is competing hard for browser control.

According to QuantumBit, Google has officially begun rolling out Gemini 4 Argon to global developers, enterprises, and paid subscribers, with a focus on strengthening coding, professional knowledge work, and sustained execution of complex tasks. On the third-party Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, Argon High tied with GPT-6 Astra Max and Claude Fable 5.1 Max at 53 points; its average cost per task is $1.99, about 39% lower than Astra. API pricing is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with discounts through November 30; from December 1, pricing returns to $4 and $20. In an ADK project of about 205,000 lines, Argon worked unattended for 11 hours, touched 32 files, proposed six optimizations, and ran 16,892 tests, with two merged, reducing long-session memory overhead by about 40% and package import time by 21%. It also completed robotic simulation modeling within hours and transferred a video of a human tossing sandbags to the Apollo humanoid robot. Tests show that it still lags major competitors on FrontierSWE and Terminal-bench; Ethan Mollick said its creativity and writing have clearly improved, but there is still a gap in complex multi-agent tasks.
