When I left Guangdong, I really missed my cats. Whenever it's cold, or I'm reading a book, they always jump up on my legs and sleep quietly. But they were so fat that my legs were always numb from the pressure. When I left my cats, I didn't have the happy annoyance, instead I was a little unaccustomed to it. So today, I'm going to share with you the story of my cats.
(About my first cat) In the second half of 2020, I used to feed stray cats in the neighborhood. I found a white kitten about 3 months old. It is said that the white cat is timid, and it is true. At first it was very afraid of people and ran away as soon as it saw people approaching. But the good thing was that the orange cats in the neighborhood were very close to humans, and it learned a lot from following them and it gradually became much more human-friendly.
When it grew up to five or six months, it wasn't afraid of people anymore. And it was the most playful one among the stray cats. Every time I fed them cat food, the other cats were eating and it always wanted to play with me. After becoming familiar with it, I liked it more and more, and I used to really like white fur. After struggling for a few days, I decided to go and kidnap it.
That day, I brought a box with me, intending to shove the kitten into the box, and then immediately go to the nearby vet hospital. But the kidnapping process wasn't smooth - at first it was wary and didn't want to go near the box, but fortunately there was a black cat that liked to play in the box, and it gradually relaxed. When it didn't notice, I rushed to close the box, and it became very scared and tried to jump out of the box in the process. I was also very nervous about catching a kitten for the first time, and very apprehensively ran to the nearest vet hospital and had some tests and deworming done. Luckily, it had no problems other than ear mites and fleas. So I kidnapped it back to my home without its permission.

My second civet cat was given to me by fate, so there was no kidnapping process. It was the Dragon Boat Festival of 2022, when Guangdong suddenly cooled down, and it was carried by its mother into the bottom of a car's pan. The next morning, I was packing my bags and preparing to go back to Guangzhou from Zhaoqing. I suddenly heard a small bird-like cry, but that cry was very urgent and it was a cry for help. I looked around for the source of the sound and finally found it in the front wheel position of a car. My family and I rescued it from the car and found it was a kitten that hadn't opened its eyes yet, and the umbilical cord hadn't been broken, so it was probably only a few days old.
After hesitating, we decided to bring this kitten back to Guangzhou at first. This is my first time to adopt this kind of newborn cat. I asked many friends and vet hospitals for suggestions on how to feed it. Parenting a newborn kitten is a pain in the ass, for the first few days it needs to be fed every few hours and helped to defecate by hand.
At about a month old, it also needs to be taught to poop and pee at regular points, and luckily I have a older cat at home who can teach it. Anyway, the whole experience is just angry and funny. After all we've been through together, we've built up a strong bond between us.

To be honest, I couldn't understand the meaning of parenting before this. I don't even understand why my mom raised me, I really know how hard it is to raise a child. But now I seem to be able to understand. When I'm parenting my cats, I'm spending time with them at the same time that they're doing the same for me.
Companionship is a very warm thing that helps me get through any unhappy moments. In 2020, I worked at Tencent and had a very tough time every day. After I had a cat, when I came home from work, I had it to greet me at the door, and it played with me, and it was always next to me. The bad mood of working was instantly dispersed. I'm very thankful for my cats.
In addition to that, I could feel the trust from my cats, who allowed me to touch their soft tummies as much as I wanted, and slept with me without fear of me hurting them. It felt amazing to be completely trusted, even though the other was only a cat.
There is also the happiness of being dependent; it relies on me to give it cat food and water every day, to cuddle it when it sleeps, and to ask me to play when it's bored. When I am thinking about the meaning of life, it gives me the simplest reason that I am needed. These are all very happy things for me.
