Episode 3. 关于我绑架小猫咪的经历,与养猫之后的收获大家好,我最近实在是太想念我的小猫咪了,所以本期与你们分享我养猫的故事~😄 希望你们喜欢~ Catalog: Part I: 00:41 about how I kidnapped the kittens Part II: 04:52 about what have I gained from parenting Talk 💬: When I left Guangdong, I really missed my cats. Whenever it's cold, or I'm reading a book, they always jump up on my legs and sleep quietly. But they were so fat that my legs were always numb from the pressure. When I left my cats, I didn't have the happy annoyance, instead I was a little unaccustomed to it. So today, I'm going to share with you the story of my cats. (About my first cat) In the second half of 2020, I used to feed stray cats in the neighborhood. I found a white kitten about 3 months old. It is said that the white cat is timid, and it is true. At first it was very afraid of people and ran away as soon as it saw people approaching. But the good thing was that the orange cats in the neighborhood were very close to humans, and it learned a lot from following them and it gradually became much more human-friendly. When it grew up to five or six months, it wasn't afraid of people anymore. And it was the most playful one among the stray cats. Every time I fed them cat food, the other cats were eating and it always wanted to play with me. After becoming familiar with it, I liked it more and more, and I used to really like white fur. After struggling for a few days, I decided to go and kidnap it. That day, I brought a box with me, intending to shove the kitten into the box, and then immediately go to the nearby vet hospital. But the kidnapping process wasn't smooth - at first it was wary and didn't want to go near the box, but fortunately there was a black cat that liked to play in the box, and it gradually relaxed. When it didn't notice, I rushed to close the box, and it became very scared and tried to jump out of the box in the process. I was also very nervous about catching a kitten for the first time, and very apprehensively ran to the nearest vet hospital and had some tests and deworming done. Luckily, it had no problems other than ear mites and fleas. So I kidnapped it back to my home without its permission. --- My second civet cat was given to me by fate, so there was no kidnapping process. It was the Dragon Boat Festival of 2022, when Guangdong suddenly cooled down, and it was carried by its mother into the bottom of a car's pan. The next morning, I was packing my bags and preparing to go back to Guangzhou from Zhaoqing. I suddenly heard a small bird-like cry, but that cry was very urgent and it was a cry for help. I looked around for the source of the sound and finally found it in the front wheel position of a car. My family and I rescued it from the car and found it was a kitten that hadn't opened its eyes yet, and the umbilical cord hadn't been broken, so it was probably only a few days old. After hesitating, we decided to bring this kitten back to Guangzhou at first. This is my first time to adopt this kind of newborn cat. I asked many friends and vet hospitals for suggestions on how to feed it. Parenting a newborn kitten is a pain in the ass, for the first few days it needs to be fed every few hours and helped to defecate by hand. At about a month old, it also needs to be taught to poop and pee at regular points, and luckily I have a older cat at home who can teach it. Anyway, the whole experience is just angry and funny. After all we've been through together, we've built up a strong bond between us. --- These are my experiences in adopting cats. And what have I gained from adopting? To be honest, I couldn't understand the meaning of parenting before this. I don't even understand why my mom raised me, I really know how hard it is to raise a child. But now I seem to be able to understand. When I'm parenting my cats, I'm spending time with them at the same time that they're doing the same for me. Companionship is a very warm thing that helps me get through any unhappy moments. In 2020, I worked at Tencent and had a very tough time every day. After I had a cat, when I came home from work, I had it to greet me at the door, and it played with me, and it was always next to me. The bad mood of working was instantly dispersed. I'm very thankful for my cats. In addition to that, I could feel the trust from my cats, who allowed me to touch their soft tummies as much as I wanted, and slept with me without fear of me hurting them. It felt amazing to be completely trusted, even though the other was only a cat. There is also the happiness of being dependent; it relies on me to give it cat food and water every day, to cuddle it when it sleeps, and to ask me to play when it's bored. When I am thinking about the meaning of life, it gives me the simplest reason that I am needed. These are all very happy things for me. Anyway, I love my cats and hope that they will always be healthy and trouble-free. This is the end of this episode, you guys can also share your stories with me about your pets in the comment.
Episode 2. 省流:不仅没被吃掉,还在广东吃胖了几斤 😆 以下是文字版(防止你们听不懂我的捉急英语呜呜🥹): Although Fujian and Guangdong are neighboring provinces, there are many differences among them. Today, I will tell you about my experience of living in Guangdong as a Fujianese. After I graduated from university, I went to Tencent's WeXin Group , which was my first time in Guangzhou. My first impression of Guangdong is that there are a lot of Cantonese speakers on the streets and a lot of people wearing flip-flops which felt very fresh to me. In the summer, Guangzhou is so hot and stuffy, and the temperature difference between day and night is so small that even when I get home from work after 10pm, it's still very hot. As I live in Guangdong for a long time, I gradually realize the difference in the living habits of people in Guangdong and Fujian. Firstly, it's the food. Guangdong has a lot more delicacies than Fujian, such as roasted pigeon(烤乳鸽), Cantonese Steamed Milk Egg Pudding(双皮奶), etc, which are not found in Fujian, but Fujian has a wider variety of soups, and soup is a must-have for every family. Secondly, the custom of sending red packets is not the same. In Guangdong, red packets are called lishui, and they are sent in many scenes. For example, married people have to give out red packets after Chinese New Year; when there are families going out, other families will send them red packets; no matter whether they are distant or close relatives, they will send out red packets during the Chinese New Year period; I once saw my friend received over 100 red packets during Chinese New Year, but the amount of each one was not expensive, ranging from 10-50. This custom is not at all like this in Fujian, we only send red packets to our important family members, ranging from 300-800 each time, and the amount is very big and the quantity is very small. Besides that, there are a lot of scammers in some areas of Fujian, and I've gotten several scam calls every time when I've been home, but I've never gotten this kind of call in Guangdong. As well as I realized that my peers in Guangdong, they watched Hong Kong dramas when they were children, but I used to watch Taiwanese idol dramas. Have you guys noticed that Fujianese have a bit of a Taiwanese accent? It's because we watched too many dramas as kids. As a Fujianese, I like living in Guangdong, there is a lot of great food and the people are simple and honest. The only shortcoming is that the weather is really hot, you can only stay in the room and blow the air conditioner in summer. I will take the express train back to Fujian tomorrow. I'll miss the food here. This episode of the podcast ends here, see you next time bye-bye~! 💗 下期再见~
Episode 1. 听音频的时候,感觉自己像是在念作文的小学生 QAQ,同时也听出自己犯了好多错误,但我不着急,慢慢改~(如果大家想给我提建议的话,我超级欢迎且感谢!❤️) 以下是本期的内容:(如果你不想听我读的话 QAQ,可以看这个) Last week, I wrapped up the second season of the American reality TV show "Undercover Billionaire". I spent about a month watching it during my meal times. The show revolves around placing three billionaires in economically struggling cities during the covid. They are given only $100 and a car, tasked with starting a million-dollar business. What struck me most about this show was the trust and mutual help between people. Grant met someone who was willing to let him live in an RV, he also met Matt who trusted him and was willing to work with him, Elaine, she assembled a team that identified with her and worked overtime for her day and night, and Monique, she met a kind pastor and a group of strangers who were willing to help her realize her dream. These things are a bit hard to believe for me. If someone on the mainland had approached me for help, I would have wondered if they were a scammer. When I was in college, I twice lent money to strangers at the station who "lost their wallets", and no doubt I was cheated. Although the money I was cheated was not much, it gave me a big shadow, and I don't trust strangers easily anymore. Apart from the warmth I gained from this program, there is a lot to learn about how to run money, how to form and manage a team, how to negotiate, and so on. I really recommend watching this show, you can learn a lot. Last weekend, I went to see the movie "johnny keep walking! ", which is funny and always makes me think of my previous corporation: Tencent. It seems that when a company gets bigger, the atmosphere at work becomes terrible. Because everyone has different power, there are always people relying on their power to change the rules, which chokes the people at the bottom. Happily, my current company has a flat management system where everyone's voice is heard and everyone is treated as a relative equal. I've been reading "100 Years of Solitude" in English recently, and the names of the people are just so long and there are so many characters. It's a little hard to read at first, but I hope I can be patient enough to finish it.
