0李问渔1840年生于上海，毕业于徐汇公学，是晚清著名的华籍耶稣会神学家,哲学家,教育家,报业先驱。他于1862年入耶稣会，1872年升神父，曾任震旦学院院长、南洋公学教师。由李问渔主编的《益闻录》、《圣心报》等报刊风行上海滩街头，记录了那个时代的社会生活以及人们思想观念的变迁；在翻译与出版事业上，李问渔不仅翻译出版了与自身信仰相关的《弥撒小言》、《炼狱略说》等一系列传道书，且通过翻译《形性学要》、《西学关键》等书籍引进了西方先进的科学理论，推动了近代上海社会的发展与中西之间文化的交流。
Li Wenyu was born in Shanghai in 1840 and graduated from St. Ignatius College. He was a famous Chinese Jesuit theologian, philosopher, educator, and pioneer of the newspaper industry in the late Qing Dynasty. He joined the Jesuits in 1862 and was ordained as a priest in 1872. He once served as the dean of the Aurora College and a teacher at the Nanyang Public School. Newspapers such as Yiwenlu and Sacred Heart Report edited by Li Wenyu were popular on the streets of Shanghai, recording the social life and changes in people's ideological concepts of that era; In the field of translation and publishing, Li Wenyu not only translated and published a series of evangelistic books related to his own beliefs, such as A Brief Account of Mass and A Brief Account of Purgatory, but also introduced advanced scientific theories from the West through the translation of books such as Xing Xing Xue Yao and The Key to Western Learning, promoting the development of modern Shanghai society and cultural exchanges between China and the West.
