0高龙鞶1833年出生于法国，是著名的科学家，也是江南科学计划的主要执行者。1869年，他作为江南科学计划优秀人才抵达上海。1873年建徐家汇天文台，创刊《徐家汇天文台观察公报》，并在观测日志上记录徐家汇的气象观测，从此开启了上海地区连续140余年气象观测记录的篇章。由他所著的《江南传教史》记述了明清两代耶稣会传教士在中国江南地区传教的历史，道出了中国天主教艰难的开创之路。
Gao Longpan was born in France in 1833. He was a renowned scientist and a key executor of the Plan for Sciences in Jiangnan. In 1869, he arrived in Shanghai as an outstanding talent of the Plan for Sciences in Jiangnan. In 1873, Xujiahui Observatory was established, and the Xujiahui Observatory Observation Bulletin was published. The meteorological observations of Xujiahui were recorded by Gao Longpan in the observation log, marking the beginning of more than 140 years of continuous meteorological observation records in the Shanghai area. The History of Missionary Work in Jiangnan, written by him, records the history of Jesuit missionaries in the Jiangnan region of China during the Ming and Qing dynasties, and reveals the difficult path of the founding of Catholicism in China.
