02:01 什么是friendship?
The definition of Friendship (Carrier, 1999): is not just a relationship between people, it is a kind of relationship, one based on spontaneous and unconstrained sentiment or affection.
A prerequisite of friendship, the autonomous self, is likely to exist only among people who can pursue political and economic survival and success through relatively impersonal mechanisms, of which the capitalist market and the state are eminent examples.
The idea of the autonomous self is not just an historical development, but is likely also to be more common among males and middle classes, while the idea that the self is defined and constrained by situation is more common among females and working classes.
