题目:

Some people think too much attention and too many resources are given to the protection of wild animals and birds. Do you agree or disagree?

范文:

There are those who believe that excessive focus and resources are devoted to the safeguarding of wildlife, an opinion I disagree with even though I recognize that human development inevitably requires the alteration and even the destruction of natural landscapes.

One of the main aspects of a developing society is that it occasionally requires space to expand, and that this urbanisation produces undeniable benefits in terms of housing, infrastructure, and economic growth. In densely populated regions, such as Guangzhou, China, rapid development has occurred over the past few decades, transforming forests and wetlands into residential zones and industrial parks. Nonetheless, the local authorities have demonstrated a commitment to balancing ecological preservation with urban growth. Redevelopment projects have included the restoration of migratory bird routes along the Pearl River Delta, and efforts have been made to establish green corridors, allowing wildlife to adapt to the modified landscape.

This success story in balancing urban growth with the preservation of biodiversity shows that while habitats may face challenges from human progress, conservation and development are not mutually exclusive. The resources allocated to wildlife protection do not represent a misallocation, but rather an investment in long-term sustainability and moral progress. In places where nature has been compromised, compensatory initiatives—such as the replanting of native vegetation, creation of wetland sanctuaries, or rerouting of migratory paths—can ensure that biodiversity is not irreparably damaged. This embodies the concept of ecological civility: an understanding that co-existence with nature is not only possible but essential to a humane and compassionate society.

In conclusion, from my perspective, the question is not whether too many resources are being directed toward the protection of wild animals and birds, but whether such efforts are integrated wisely into a broader strategy that balances ecological preservation with the legitimate needs of human development, since only through this equilibrium can a society be considered truly progressive and civilized.
