龟兔赛跑
A Hare was making fun of the Tortoise one day for being so slow.
某日，野兔正嘲笑乌龟行动迟缓。
"Do you ever get anywhere?" he asked with a mocking laugh.
“你这辈子能到得了什么地方吗？”野兔带着嘲弄的笑声问道。
"Yes," replied the Tortoise, "and I get there sooner than you think. I'll run you a race and prove it."
“当然，”乌龟回答，“而且比你想的要快得多。不如你我赛跑一场来证明。”
The Hare was much amused at the idea of running a race with the Tortoise, but for the fun of the thing he agreed.
听闻要与乌龟赛跑，野兔觉得荒唐至极，但为了寻开心还是应允了。
So the Fox, who had consented to act as judge, marked the distance and started the runners off.
于是请来狐狸担任裁判，划定赛程后便让两位选手出发。
The Hare was soon far out of sight, and to make the Tortoise feel very deeply how ridiculous it was for him to try a race with a Hare, he lay down beside the course to take a nap until the Tortoise should catch up.
野兔转眼便跑得不见踪影。为了让乌龟彻底明白与兔辈赛跑多么可笑，它索性在跑道边躺下打盹，等着乌龟赶上来。
The Tortoise meanwhile kept going slowly but steadily, and, after a time, passed the place where the Hare was sleeping.
而乌龟始终不疾不徐地稳步前行，一段时间后便经过了野兔酣睡之处。
But the Hare slept on very peacefully; and when at last he did wake up, the Tortoise was near the goal.
野兔依旧安然大睡，待它终于醒来时，乌龟已接近终点。
The Hare now ran his swiftest, but he could not overtake the Tortoise in time.
野兔虽全力狂奔，却终究没能及时追上乌龟。
Slow and steady wins the race.
稳扎稳打终能胜出。
