 Live from NPR in Washington, I'm Windsor Johnston. A racist [种族主义的] meme [梗图] of former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama has been taken down from President Trump's social media platform. The video had appeared late last night on the president's Truth Social account during the first week of Black History Month [美国黑人历史月]. NPR's Deepa Shivaram reports. Before the post was taken down, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said that the clip Trump posted is from a, quote, internet meme. It depicts Trump as king of the jungle [丛林], while Democrats are shown as characters from The Lion King [狮子王]. Levitt also said to, quote, please stop the fake outrage [虚假的愤怒]. Trump has a history of making racist remarks towards Black people. For years, he pushed the false narrative [虚假的说法] that Obama was not born in the U.S. In addition, he's used derogatory [贬低性的] language to describe African countries. He's also tried to falsely claim former Vice President Kamala Harris, quote, turned Black. Harris identifies as Black and Indian American. 

The Department of Homeland Security has filed a motion [动议] seeking to end the asylum [寻求庇护] process for five-year-old Liam Cenejo-Ramos and his family. Regina Medina from Minnesota Public Radio has more. In the court filing submitted Wednesday, the government seeks to expedite [加快] deportation proceedings [遣返流程] in the family's case, says their immigration attorney [移民律师], Danielle Mulliver. The family is from Ecuador [厄瓜多尔] and entered the U.S. in 2024 to seek asylum. Mulliver says it's uncommon and there's no reason for their case to be expedited. It's really frustrating [令人沮丧的] as an attorney because it does, you know, they keep throwing new obstacles [障碍] in their way. Liam is best known for a viral [爆火的] photo showing him in a bunny hat [兔兔帽] surrounded by ICE [移民局] officers. He returned home to Minneapolis this week after he and his father were detained [被羁押] in Texas.

The Department of Justice says the key suspect in the 2012 attack on the American consulate [领事馆] in Benghazi [利比里亚首都班加西] is now in U.S. custody [拘留]. Attorney General Pam Bondi says Zubar Albaqush was flown to Joint Base Andrews early this morning. Albaqush will now face American justice on American soil. We will prosecute [起诉] this alleged [据信] terrorist to the fullest extent of the law. He'll face charges related to murder [谋杀], terrorism [恐怖主义], arson [纵火], among others. U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed in the attack that quickly became a political flashpoint [敏感问题]. Republicans blamed the Obama administration and then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for not doing enough to protect the compound [设施]. A final report from a Republican-led congressional panel cited security lapses but ultimately [最终] found no wrongdoing by Clinton. 

At last check on Wall Street, the Dow was up 1,219 points. This is NPR. 

U.S. Southern Command has carried out another deadly strike on a boat in the eastern Pacific, suspected of carrying narcotics [毒品]. NPR's Quill Lawrence reports two people aboard were killed. Southcom posted a grainy [画质模糊的] video on social media showing a small boat that explodes into flames. The video is edited so the boat's cargo [运载物] is blacked out. The U.S. military has now killed at least 128 people suspected of smuggling [偷运] drugs in the Pacific and Caribbean since September, including shipwrecked [船只残骸] survivors who were killed or left to drown. This week, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth claimed without evidence that top cartel [卡特尔垄断组织] drug traffickers [偷运人] have decided to cease [停止] all narcotics operations due to this tactic [手段]. But NPR has reported that during the last three months of 2025, cocaine seizures [截获] at the U.S.-Mexican border were up 34 percent from the previous year, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data.

France and Canada are opening new consulates in the capital of Greenland today. The announcement comes after President Trump reignited [重燃] interest in acquiring the island. The diplomatic [外交的] expansion signals efforts by both countries to boost their presence in Greenland, a Danish territory that's become a growing focus of global competition. Trump's push to claim the island, which he's framed [定性] as a national security issue, alarmed U.S. allies and sparked [引发] a broader debate over Arctic sovereignty [北极主权] and security. 

On Wall Street, the Dow is up 1,206 points, the Nasdaq Composite up 490, the S&P 500 up 133.
