Yu Shui, Rain Water is the second solar term in the traditional calendar. In ancient books, it is said: "In the middle of the first lunar month, Heaven gives birth to water. Spring corresponds to the element wood, yet it is water that nourishes wood. Hence Rain Water follows the Beginning of Spring." At this time, the east wind thaws the ice, turning it into rain. A moist atmosphere spreads between heaven and earth, and all things quietly awaken under the care of spring rain. It isas if nature has composed a wise prose poem: the Beginning of Spring declares the arrival of spring's rule, and Rain Water acts as its first messenger, bringing the first moisture of spring to nourish every living thing.
