 Live from NPR in Washington, I'm Janine Herbst. The European Union is demanding an explanation for President Trump's decision to impose a 15% tariff on imports to the U.S. after the Supreme Court struck down [判决无效] his sweeping [影响广泛的] global import duties [关税]. Terry Schultz reports the EU's executive arm [行政分支] says Washington has to honor [遵守] a trade agreement it concluded with the bloc [集团] last year. A deal is a deal, the European Commission says in a written response to President Trump's announcement of new tariffs. It adds that as the U.S.'s largest trading partner, the European Union wants full clarity [清晰] on Washington's next steps and expects an agreement the two sides made last August to be respected. That accord [协议] set a 15% import duty on most EU goods other than those which are already covered by other U.S. tariffs, such as steel [钢铁] and aluminum [铝材]. Some products even have zero tariffs in the agreement. In exchange, the EU agreed to remove many tariffs on U.S. imports. The European Parliament was due [按计划就要] to vote on the U.S.-EU trade deal Tuesday, but the head of the trade committee says he now wants to delay it. 

The Secret Service [特勤局] says an armed [武装的] man was shot and killed at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida early this morning after he breached [突破] a security perimeter [安全警戒线] at President Trump's resort [度假区]. Palm Beach Sheriff Rick Bradshaw. They confronted [面对] a white male that was carried a gas can [汽油罐] and a shotgun [散弹枪]. He was ordered to drop those two pieces of equipment that he had with him, at which time he put down the gas can, raised the shotgun to a shooting position. At that point in time, the deputy [警长] and the two Secret Service agents fired their weapons. Trump wasn't there at the time. He's in D.C. preparing for the State of the Union [国情咨文]. The man died at the scene and no agents or officers were injured. The shooting is under investigation. There's no word on a motive [动机]. 

A major winter storm is hitting the east coast with blizzard [暴风雪] warnings from the Mid-Atlantic to New England, with some areas expected to get over two feet [两英尺，即61厘米] of snow. Thousands of flights have been canceled so far. In New York, the mayor has declared a state of emergency and a travel ban that starts tonight. Steve Kastenbaum has more. The snow started falling here around 11 a.m., and it's expected to continue through Monday morning, prompting [促使] Mayor Zoran Mamdani to declare a travel ban. It goes into effect later in the evening. We are asking New Yorkers to avoid all non-essential travel. Please, for your safety, stay home, stay inside, and stay off the roads. The latest forecast says that New York could receive between 18 and 24 inches of snow with the heaviest accumulations [累积] happening overnight. The blizzard prompted the school's chancellor [校监] to issue a rare snow day for the city's 940,000 public school students.

It was the hockey matchup [冰球比拼] fans in North America were hoping for, the United States and Canada for the gold medal, and it lived up to expectations [不负众望] as the U.S. won in a dramatic overtime 2-1. Steve Utterman reports it was the U.S. men's first gold in hockey since 1980. It was an emotional, hard-fought match with everything on the line. The U.S. scored first six minutes into the game. Canada tied it 1-1 at the end of the second. Neither team scored in the third, sending the game into overtime [加时赛]. And just a minute 42 into the extra period, the U.S.'s Jack Hughes had an open shot to the left of the net. He calmly put it through, setting off a wild celebration.Here's Hughes after the game. I think every single person in that game tonight can be proud, and obviously it was a great game, and we're the team with the better outcome, but just a great game between USA and Canada. The men's hockey gold medal was the 12th for the U.S. here in Italy, the most ever at a single Winter Olympics by an American team. 

At the weekend box office [电影票房], Sony Pictures Animation's GOAT took the top spot, with an estimated $17 million in ticket sales. The Stephen Curry, Steph Curry-produced film has made $58 million domestically [（美国）国内]. In second place, Warner Bros. MRC's Wuthering Heights [呼啸山庄], with $14 million. That film made $60 million domestically, $150 million, $151 million rather, globally. And in third place, Liongate's I Can Only Imagine 2, which is a follow-up to the Dennis Quaid movie in 2018, with $7 million.
