I scarce believed a youth with skin as white as snow
Would make me no longer think clearly and fast like a goat.
The feeling of amour should be deterred and retire,
Plant myself firmly in the chair and let the fool’s thought expire!
Here he comes like a deer, and up my heart leaps into the air.
But filled with fears, cold and clear, and remind myself that the storm is near.
However adorable thou art, yet my heart isn’t thine and it’s belong to that pine.
Bid thee adieu, lest I fool my true core,
I’ll cling to the sense I know before—I won’t lose myself anymore!
