Introduction:
The Xuanquan Post Station wooden slips are collected in Gansu Provincial Museum. They look plain, but carry precious historical records of the ancient Silk Road more than 2,000 years ago. Named after a clear spring in the mountains, Xuanquan Post was an official station on the Silk Road in the Han Dynasty, receiving envoys from various Western Regions traveling to the Central Plains. The slips carefully record reception etiquette, travel mileage, material supplies and other details. They show the complete post system of the Han Dynasty, witness frequent friendly exchanges between the Central Plains and the Western Regions, serve as important physical evidence of Silk Road prosperity and exchanges, and are silent narrators of Silk Road civilization.
