I thought I’d be able to post this review episode before the midnight screening of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as a preview of what to look forward to before the movie. But I ended up rambling on and on, and before I knew it, I’d stayed up this late working on the episode. As it happens, this also gives me a chance to discuss the movie with viewers who’ve already seen it.
This episode draws on my experiences attending the Spider-Man 4 meet-and-greet in Shanghai and watching an advance screening. My commentary focuses on four main areas: the story, action sequences, and emotional arcs of Spider-Man 4, as well as its special significance leading up to the release of Avengers 5 and the direction it sets for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This episode contains some plot spoilers, so if you’re concerned about that, feel free to save it for later and come back to discuss it after you’ve seen the full movie. I can confidently say this is likely one of the most comprehensive analyses of the film to date.
