In Episode 7 of the Engineering Wellbeing Podcast, Youth Generation series, Former intern Rachel gives us a candid look at what it is really like to grow up in today’s technology driven world. She explores the double edged impact of social media, from creating meaningful connections and friendships across borders to quietly increasing anxiety around likes, comparison, and how we present ourselves online.

Rachel also shares why AI is becoming a patient, judgment free tutor for her generation and offers a fascinating perspective on the growing technology gap between parents and teens.

Most importantly, Rachel leaves listeners with a thoughtful and reassuring message for young people who feel overwhelmed by the pressures of life online.

Engineering Wellbeing@Jin Shang

A podcast where we explore Wellbeing as a BRIDGE. In each monthly series, we take one theme and explore it through four complimentary lenses: a systems level framing, a technology perspective, a specialist or scientific viewpoint, and a cultural Chinese context lens. Because Wellbeing is never one-dimensional; it is biology, psychology, social, cultural, and technology all at once.
