The table compares the number of marathon participants in two age groups, namely those aged 18–39 and those aged 40 and above, as well as the total figure, between 2008 and 2012.

Overall, participation increased steadily throughout the period, with the younger age group consistently accounting for the majority of runners, while both age categories reached their highest figures in the last measured year.

In 2008, 1,200 people aged 18–39 took part in the marathon, compared with 800 participants aged 40 and over, producing a total of 2,000 runners. Over the following two years, participation among the younger group rose steadily to 1,350 in 2009 and 1,500 in 2010, whereas the corresponding figures for those aged 40 and above increased more modestly to 850 and 900, with the overall number of participants climbing to 2,200 and 2,400 respectively.

This upward pattern continued during the final two years, with the number of 18–39-year-olds increasing to 1,600 in 2011 before peaking at 1,750 in 2012, representing an overall rise of 550 participants from the beginning of the period. Meanwhile, participation among those aged 40 and above grew from 950 to 1,050, an increase of 250 compared with 2008, bringing total marathon participation to 2,550 in 2011 before climaxing at 2,800 in the final year.
